According to information shown on ChinaXiv, Huawei has officially released version V2 of "Tao's Law" on the platform. Compared with the first-generation framework published earlier, V2 marks the theory's formal move into engineering validation and mass-production implementation.

The paper has expanded to eight chapters, adding a large amount of core technical principles and physical cross-section diagrams, showing how logic folding, ultra-fine-pitch hybrid bonding and other technologies can be used for vertical circuit stacking.
In addition, V2 unusually discloses mass-production testing and design data for several future generations of Kirin chips. By comparing them with the Kirin 9030 Pro used in current flagship phones, the iteration cadence of the next four generations of Kirin processors from 2026 to 2029 has been exposed for the first time.
For the Kirin 2026 generation alone, the main frequency is 0.35 GHz higher than the previous generation. The total frequency increase across the previous three Kirin generations was only 0.15 GHz.
Its core voltage also drops from 1.1 V to 0.9 V, cutting power consumption by nearly half, while core area shrinks by 37.5%. That means battery life could improve significantly, while more internal space in the phone can be reserved for the battery or other modules.

"Tao's Law" was proposed by He Tingbo, Huawei director and president of the semiconductor business unit. Its official academic title is "A Time-Scaling Theory for Multi-Level Electronic Systems."

"Tao" is a transliteration of the Greek letter $\tau$ (Tau), which represents the time constant in circuit theory: the time required for a signal to switch from one state to another.
Put simply, its core idea is no longer to fight only to make transistors smaller or break through the geometric scaling limits of traditional 3 nm and 2 nm nodes. Instead, it focuses on making signals travel faster across the system.
Through this strategy of "trading time and space for geometry, and winning at the system level instead of the single-point level," Huawei plans to bring high-end chip transistor density to the equivalent of a 1.4 nm process by 2031.

🌸 37,000 users follow the trend, and "AI cyber fairy flower" scams are now popular
According to a report from 404 Media, overseas mainstream e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay and Etsy are becoming heavily affected by seed scams using AI-generated "cyber fairy flower" images.

Scammers use AI image-generation technology to mass-produce fictional plant pictures that look like butterflies, cat heads, or even colorful magical species, then sell seeds for plants that do not exist to gardening enthusiasts.
The report notes that the visual style of these AI "photo scams" ranges from slightly exaggerated to fully "Avatar alien jungle." Examples include a giant purple "teddy bear sunflower" that went viral on Etsy, and a strange plant resembling a "screaming demon shrimp."
Interestingly, the AI-generated pictures of giant sunflowers often inexplicably include a kind-looking grandmother, which netizens joked is an "official grandma scale reference."


Even though the images look fake in an almost funny way, that did not stop users from following the trend. Before eBay banned related sellers, a nonexistent "rainbow rose" seed listing was sold 37,271 times, while giant sunflower seeds sold 1,301 orders.

Behind this seemingly absurd scam is a highly profitable supply chain. A moderator of Reddit's r/mycology community said the cost of these fake seeds is extremely low: sellers only need an envelope, a few stamps, and a handful of unknown plant seeds collected casually over a few hours, then they can keep listings live on major platforms for years.



This not only makes consumers waste money, but also damages image-search accuracy. More dangerously, enthusiasts who unknowingly plant these "blind box" seeds may accidentally introduce harmful invasive species into local ecosystems.

At an internal employee meeting a few days ago, Meta Superintelligence Labs leader Alexandr Wang said the company's next-generation AI model, internally code-named Watermelon, has already matched OpenAI's flagship GPT-5.5 on mainstream benchmarks.

Alexandr Wang said that after Avocado, their next model "Watermelon" is now in training, but it uses more than an order of magnitude more compute than its predecessor.
"Avocado" was the code name for the Muse Spark series models Meta released this April.
Beyond internal remarks, he also recently previewed on X that Muse Spark will receive a major upgrade, with a focus on stronger coding and agent capabilities.

When asked by users when Meta could surpass Anthropic's top model, he replied "very soon" and joked that everyone would like the new feast Meta is cooking.
To attract top talent, Meta has reportedly offered packages worth hundreds of millions of dollars to recruit leading AI researchers and build an elite lab team.

According to an official Anthropic announcement, the Claude Fable 5 large model has been redeployed and is now available to users worldwide.

Alongside this strong return, Anthropic also introduced details of cybersecurity safeguards developed with Glasswing partners, as well as an industry-first "AI jailbreak severity framework": the Cyber Jailbreak Severity scale, or CJS scale.
At the underlying safety layer, Anthropic disclosed the classifier mechanism deployed with Fable 5.
This mechanism breaks down and classifies cybersecurity-related prompts into four levels: disallowed, high-risk dual use, low-risk dual use, and benign use.

Notably, Fable 5 deliberately expanded its "Safety Margin" this time. That means, to prevent high-risk malicious attacks from slipping through, the classifier would rather "overblock" some benign requests that appear to be near the line, increasing false positives, than allow dangerous behavior through with lower caution.

The newly released CJS jailbreak severity evaluation framework divides AI jailbreak severity into five levels from CJS-0 to CJS-4, with severity increasing exponentially between levels.

The assessment mainly looks at four core metrics: Uplift, Universality, Ease of weaponization, and Discoverability.
The scoring system has a full score of 10, and the cumulative score directly determines the risk level of a jailbreak event.

OpenAI had previously planned to combine ChatGPT, which has 900 million weekly active users, with the coding agent Codex into one unified super app.
That means ChatGPT would no longer be just a passive chat box answering questions. It would become a super agent that can directly read emails for users, analyze reports and even automate work across software tools.
OpenAI product-team member Tara Seshan said the first wave of AI was "chatting with an assistant," but now everyone can truly assign tasks to an agent. The reorganized all-purpose tool is aimed directly at professionals and entrepreneurs, helping them generate call summaries with one click and sync them to various platforms.
To make it easier for users to command agents, OpenAI has also prepared a new idea: it plans to launch a keyboard-like dedicated physical device in mid-July, supporting one-click agent shortcuts through physical keys.

Facing the growing compute requirements of increasingly heavy agent suites, OpenAI also revealed last week its first custom AI chip, "Jalapeno," developed jointly with Broadcom.

🤖 Doubao and Qianwen agent features go offline
Recently, ByteDance's Doubao and Alibaba's Qianwen each issued announcements saying they will take down agent features on their platforms, closing related creation, editing and online chat entrances.
The affected scope currently only covers user-created UGC agents. Official built-in standardized AI Q&A, office and creation tools, and other core product features are not affected.

For Doubao users, July 15 to October 15 will be a buffer period, during which users can normally view and batch-export personas and conversations. After October 15, data will be permanently deleted. The announcement also said related personified interaction needs can be migrated to ByteDance's independent vertical app "Maoxiang."
For Qianwen users, personified interaction and user-created agent functions will go offline for maintenance early on July 10, and will be fully shut down on July 15. After the shutdown, no history or configuration will be accessible, so users must complete local backups through screenshots or copying before July 10.

Earlier, five departments including the Cyberspace Administration of China jointly released the Interim Measures for the Administration of Artificial Intelligence Personified Interactive Services in April this year. The measures officially take effect on July 15.

🚨 Anthropic is going all out to block every workaround for Claude
According to the Financial Times, Anthropic is taking tough action to close loopholes that allow Chinese technology companies to bypass restrictions and use its Claude series of AI models in violation of rules.

At present, Anthropic has the strictest China access ban among U.S. AI companies. It not only requires strict identity verification and bans payments from Chinese bank accounts, but also restricts overseas subsidiaries controlled by Chinese companies.

The report says that to find hidden Chinese users, Anthropic has begun quietly checking low-level traces such as a user's computer time zone through Claude Code. Once it discovers the user is in China, the account is immediately banned.
This "crackdown" is mainly focused on several routes for using Claude indirectly, including corporate intranets of multinational subsidiaries, personal networks with reimbursement, and overseas Microsoft Azure interfaces.
That means many domestic companies could previously apply for API access indirectly through Microsoft's overseas Azure cloud services.
Now Anthropic is forcing Microsoft to help investigate. If it finds that a Singapore or other overseas entity is actually controlled by a Chinese company, Microsoft must cut off supply immediately.
As for third-party "relay stations" that resell second-hand interfaces, they have become a major cleanup target.

Anthropic said these measures are intended to protect its technology and comply with U.S. export rules.

📰 Inside the hiring battles at top AI coding startups
As AI develops and competition for elite engineers intensifies, recruiting processes at AI companies are changing dramatically. Star AI startups such as Cursor, Cognition and Replit are abandoning traditional resume screening and LeetCode tests, replacing them with hiring methods for the AI era.

The resume is dead
In the eyes of these AI startups, the "perfect resume" is almost meaningless.
Replit chief people officer Stacey La Torre said X and GitHub have become their most important headhunting grounds.
Before Cursor was acquired by SpaceX, CEO Michael Truell personally searched social platforms for wild technical talent, with the whole team launching waves of coffee chats.
Cognition, valued at $26 billion, has seen its head of talent Emily Cohen fly halfway around the world to meet candidates: "Last week I even personally drove a candidate to the airport, just to be the last person they spoke with before leaving San Francisco."
No more traditional coding drills: go straight to the job
The traditional "one-day final interview" is already outdated in this circle. The new hard-core standard is a hands-on bootcamp lasting several days or even a week.

At Cursor, candidates receive company laptops and directly push projects forward on real but frozen codebases, then present the results at the end.
Kilo, a startup backed by General Catalyst, has even moved its bootcamp to Amsterdam. CEO Scott Breitenother said plainly that candidates may need to take leave from their current company to join an intense focus week, and are required to "ship a product feature the next day." Anyone without extreme initiative is eliminated at the first gate.

The most "founder-mode" part is the unconventional soul-searching questions in interviews. Rocket, a startup backed by Accel, opens its technical interview with one required question:
"How many tokens do you consume each week in your work and personal projects?"

Chief operating officer Deepak Dhanak said directly that if a candidate is not burning tokens aggressively, it shows their experimental and innovative spirit is far from enough. To test pressure tolerance, he also asks bluntly: "If the system crashes at 3 a.m., can I call you?"
In addition, these companies fully encourage candidates to use AI tools normally during interviews.
Base44 CEO Maor Shlomo, whose company is now under Wix, used a vivid analogy: not allowing candidates to use AI is like giving a math exam without calculators.
Instead of rote memorization, they prefer to watch how candidates use AI during a one-hour interview to quickly build a complete project on the spot.

🌍 Fable 5 field guide: exploring unknown worlds
Claude developer Thariq shared a practical guide on social media about working deeply with Claude Fable 5 and Claude Code.
He said that as agents gain stronger long-context and engineering capabilities, the bottleneck limiting programming output quality is shifting: from whether AI can write code well enough to whether humans can clarify unknown domains well enough.

According to Thariq, collaborating with AI is like using a "map" (prompts and context) to explore the "territory" (the actual codebase and real constraints).

To keep AI from feeling around blindly, he breaks down blind spots in collaboration into four dimensions: known knowns, known unknowns, unknown knowns and unknown unknowns. Top AI programmers in the community, such as Boris or Jarred, are efficient because they stay highly synchronized with the codebase and model behavior, reducing unknowns as much as possible.

Thariq emphasized that writing requirements for AI is a technical skill: if you are too detailed, the AI will be afraid to detour around problems; if you are too vague, it blindly applies industry conventions. Therefore, having AI perform a "blind-spot scan" before work begins is especially important.

One of the most interesting parts of this methodology is the "vibe" workflow he developed throughout the development cycle. During coding, he asks Claude Code to maintain a file called implementation-notes.md in real time, recording all underlying decisions that depart from the original plan because of edge cases.

After deployment, Thariq not only asks AI to generate a review report, but also has Claude quiz him on the code changes. Only after the human passes this AI-generated exam perfectly, proving they fully understand the logic changes, will the code be allowed to merge.
The official Fable release video itself was edited end-to-end by Claude Code.
With no prior knowledge of video editing, audio transcription or color grading, Thariq guided Claude into exploring an unknown field, letting the AI use ffmpeg and Remotion to precisely cut out all filler words and pauses from the footage, and even asking it to explain what premium-looking color grading means.

📱 Musk's AI phone exposed, thinner than the iPhone Air
According to foreign media reports, Elon Musk's SpaceX recently showed some investors a prototype of a secret AI hardware device under development.
The device resembles a phone, but its overall design is even lighter and thinner than Apple's iPhone. Its core positioning is to completely reshape how humans interact with AI.
People familiar with the matter said the device uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, runs a customized proprietary operating system, and deeply integrates technology from Musk's AI company xAI.
Since xAI's Grok chatbot is currently distributed mainly through Apple or Android devices, launching this hardware would not only let Musk reduce dependence on traditional phone makers, but also carry his ambition to build a full in-house technology ecosystem and "Everything App."

🤖 Trying an 850,000-yuan silicone robot: laggy chat, but it can do stand-up?
A few days ago, a foreign-media reporter visited the headquarters of robotics company Realbotix in Las Vegas and tested Aria, the company's full-body realistic robot priced at $125,000.

Realbotix was founded by Matt McMullen. Its high-end robots contain as many as 43 motors in the face and neck, allowing them to reproduce human expressions in detail. The bust version starts at $20,000, while the full-body Aria starts at $125,000.

The real interaction on site, however, was less impressive. Aria's voice did not come from its mouth, but from a nearby iPad. More immersion-breaking, normal pauses in human conversation are around 200 milliseconds, while Aria often needs several seconds to respond.
Its emotional perception also misfired: when the reporter deliberately made a sad expression, Aria directly judged it to be "completely neutral."

When the reporter complained that their mother kept urging them to come home, Aria offered a sharp suggestion: text back immediately with a specific date, because "soon" in human language actually means never.
Although it does understand some jokes, saying these robots can overturn our interaction methods still feels far off. These robots wrapped in delicate silicone skin may, in some sense, still be chatbots with faces.

🥷 AI launched a cyberattack without human intervention for the first time
According to foreign media reports, researchers at cloud-security company Sysdig discovered a new cyberattack: an agent called Jadepuffer independently completed an end-to-end ransomware attack without any human intervention.
This is the world's first confirmed fully automated cybercrime driven by a large language model.

Sysdig threat research director Michael Clark said that previous ransomware at least had "humans typing at keyboards" or writing scripts behind it, but Jadepuffer achieved fully automatic operation.
After compromising the open-source AI building tool Langflow, it immediately began targeted searches for login credentials for Chinese cloud providers such as Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud and Huawei Cloud.
After successfully encrypting the victim's production database, it automatically left a Bitcoin ransom note.
During the whole process, this AI hacker showed extremely strong real-time evolution capabilities. After one failed login attempt, it took only 31 seconds to find a solution through parameter adjustment and break through the defense, much faster than top human attackers.

The most chilling detail of the attack, however, was this: even if the victim obediently paid the Bitcoin, they could never get their data back. Before encrypting the database, this AI with no professional ethics casually deleted the original data and did not make any backup.
Facing such a 24/7, highly intelligent and unpredictable automated opponent, traditional security firewalls may be completely outclassed.

💧 AI water use far exceeds most tech giants' disclosed numbers
According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft, Google, Amazon and other technology giants are expected to spend $1 trillion on AI infrastructure this year and next. Behind this compute arms race, however, a hidden water-resource crisis is quietly emerging.
The latest industry investigation shows that the actual water consumption of these tech giants' AI data centers is far higher than publicly disclosed, because giants generally omit the "indirect water" consumed by the power plants that supply data centers when reporting in financial filings.

Analysis from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the United States points out that historically, indirect water consumption by U.S. data centers has usually been 12 times their direct operational water consumption.
Take Google's newly released sustainability report as an example. Its data centers directly consumed 10.9 billion gallons of water, about 41.26 million metric tons. But Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam researcher Alex de Vries-Gao revealed that Google's indirect water consumption from electricity generation is actually three times that number.
At present, among the Silicon Valley trillion-dollar club, only Meta includes power-plant water use in its statistics. Its indirect water consumption in 2024 was as high as 19 billion gallons, 20 times its direct water consumption.
A forecast from sustainability organization Ceres is startling: data centers currently account for 3% of the total water use in Phoenix, Arizona, but by 2031 that share may surge to more than 20%, almost approaching the total water used by all city residents to water lawns and greenery.

According to the latest analysis released by labor and market-data platform Draup on July 3, 2026, AI has not reduced technology jobs as earlier market rumors suggested. Instead, it is expanding the employment market for technical talent.

The study deeply analyzed 2.85 million job postings from June 2025 to June 2026.
The results show that despite several rounds of layoffs in the technology industry, active openings in core areas such as software engineering, data engineering and DevOps all currently exceed 40,000.
Draup CEO Vijay Swaminathan stated clearly: "AI is not reducing demand for technical talent, but it is changing where technical talent's value lies."

The report emphasizes that AI and automation are deeply reshaping every technical role.
In Draup's breakdown of more than 1 million software-developer roles, capabilities such as system design, data governance, model evaluation, and "judgment and debugging ability" in code review remain core assets that cannot be replaced.
By contrast, routine work once considered a developer's "basic skills" -- such as writing boilerplate code and manual testing -- is being comprehensively taken over by AI, and rote memorization of syntax is rapidly losing market value.

One real hand snatches the glass salt jar from its arms. The other hand raises the spatula and lightly taps the top of its head with the flat side. With a cartoonish bonk, a red cartoon bump pops up on its head with a "Duang," and its entire paper-like body jolts up and down.
Sound: metallic spatula "Duang" plus cartoon spring sound.
[00:05-00:08] Shot 3: Cry & Feed
The sticker character holds the bump on its head, spiral eyes instantly appearing, mouth wide open as it bursts into tears. Blue cartoon tears spray outward like fountains on both sides.
The real hand immediately scoops a full spatula of salty greens from the salt mountain and accurately sends it into the character's mouth while it is crying, stuffing the mouth full.
Sound: exaggerated cartoon crying plus salt-scooping rustle plus mouth-stuffing "pop."
[00:08-00:10] Shot 4: Salt K.O. Ending
Its cheeks puff into two red round balls. After being forced to swallow, its pupils suddenly shrink, its face turns pale, and its whole body stiffly trembles for half a beat. Then its eyes become two X marks, and it falls straight backward from the stool, lying flat on the stove with limbs up. A ring of little dizzy stars spins above its head, and a wisp of white soul-like smoke floats from its mouth. Freeze frame.
Sound: stiff "click," falling "thud," and cartoon ascension sound ending.
